Diana Lee Jenkins, 78, of Palatka, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine following a brief illness. A native of Medford, Oregon, Diana served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp for 2 years. She moved to Palatka in 1969 from Gainesville. Diana was a licensed practical nurse and had worked at Putnam Memorial Hospital and Putnam Community Medical Center from 1969-2007. Over the years, Diana and her husband, the late Charles C. Jenkins, fostered numerous children and adopted 2 sons. In her leisure time, Diana enjoyed knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Cecil Jenkins and her parents, Lionel J. Cox and Uva Williams Cox.
Diana is survived by 2 sons, Mike Jenkins of St. Augustine and Jeff Higginbotham (Debbie) of Forest City, NC, 2 sisters, Carol Cookson (Al) of Mountain Home, AR and Janet Hart of Eugene, OR, a granddaughter, Sydney Powell (Allen), a niece, Carrie Berdrow and a nephew, John Cole.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Oak Hill West Cemetery in Palatka with Bro. Ricky Bybee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177.
