Thomas Andrew “Tom” Garten, 55 of San Mateo, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Putnam Community Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident. Tom was a native and lifelong resident of Putnam County and a graduate of Palatka High School. He worked as an electrician and had also worked in the stucco and lathe business. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his leisure time, Tom also enjoyed watching NASCAR and Florida State and Jaguars football.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leigh Garten.
Tom is survived by his children, T.W Garten (Victoria), and Daisey Garten and brother, Ray Garten (Ellen).
A memorial service celebrating Tom’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Bro. Willie McKinnon, III officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. until the time of the services.
