Obituary for Rose Marie Champion

Rose Marie Cook Champion, 76, of Grandin, passed from this life unexpectedly at her home from natural causes on Sunday, February 14, 2021. A native of Florahome, she was a 1962 graduate of Melrose High School and was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. Rose began work in data programming at the Hudson Pulp and Paper Company. After raising a family, she made a career as a sales associate at Wal-Mart for many years. Rose was a very active and dedicated member of the Florahome United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer and in other capacities. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rose also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Champion Sr., a brother, Fred R. Cook Jr. and a sister, Carol Shoemaker.
Rose is survived by two sons, Carl E. Champion, Jr. (Diana) of Burlington, NJ and Paul Champion (Vanessa) of Grandin, three sisters, Alice Peacock (Billy) of Florahome, Fredna Carter (Vernon) of Battlefield, MO, and Ruth Spencer (Tommy) of Middleburg and five grandchildren, Chaise Champion, Chance Champion, Carly Champion, Katy Champion, and Charlie Champion.
Services celebrating Rose’s life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 27, 2021 outdoors at the Florahome United Methodist Church with Pastor Elizabeth Boyd officiating. We recognize the public health concerns at this time and will allow adequate spacing and options to use protective measures.
