Obituary for Roger Harrell

WILLIAM RAY “ROGER” HARRELL, 100, died at Crescent Lake House near Crescent City on Thursday, February 11, 2021 after an extended illness.
Roger was born in LaCrosse, Florida and graduated from Mulberry High School and then attended the University of Florida before served his country with both the Marines and Navy. He was a Lieutenant with the Marines and served five years in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his military career he came home to earn his Masters degree in Engineering from UCLA. In Santa Barbara he worked as a Civil Engineer for the County of Santa Barbara. His hobby for over 60 years was propagating all types of orchids with some varieties having blooms as big as dinner plates.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen Harrell of Georgetown, Florida; his son, Brian Harrell and daughter, Nancy Harrell both of Santa Barbara, California; a Step Daughter, Margie Blixt of Woodland California and Step Son, James Faletti of Meadow Vista, California; his sister, Georgie Wood of New Port News, Virginia; Four Grandchildren, Robert Harrell, Crystal Harrell Dockery, Jamie Faletti and Nicholas Faletti; Great Grandchildren, James, Lauren Faletti; and a great-great granddaughter, Kathryn Faletti
Keeping Mr. Harrell’s wishes, there will be no services.
