Among my very first sentences, I am told, was "I want Aunt Iva Jeanne!" The warmth of her smile was pure sunshine to me. Iva Jeanne was, in the very best sense, a humanist - she loved people, and especially young people. She was really smart - a physics and human physiology teacher at a time when high schools actually taught science. Of course she had the sense to marry my Uncle Raiford, who respected this wonderful woman.

I was no more than 4, sitting out of sight behind the rocking chairs on the screen porch of the old Butler beach house, listening to the women talk. The conversation was about a young unmarried woman who had become pregnant. My grandmother commented that she would send her packing: "She made her bed - she can sleep in it." Aunt Iva Jeanne said, "If she was my daughter, I'd take her home with me, love her and love that baby too. I'd make sure she could get her education so she could make a life for herself." That was Iva Jeanne. She may very well have saved my faith in humanity.

I loved Mrs. Zetrouer Biology class. I will never forget the day in her class, when the announcement was made over the intercom that President John Kennedy was shot in Dallas. Mrs.. Zet was a wonderful teacher and inspired her students to learn. She shared some funny college days stories with us during class. On the last day of school, we walked to her house and enjoyed an ice cold bottle of coke during our class. This was a real treat. May God bring the family solace and comfort at this time. I am unable to attend service because I am out of state.

Let me add my thoughts and prayers to the many shared with the family of Mrs. Zet. I was a student at PHS 1966-69 and was in Mrs. Zet's biology class. All the other students knew we were the lucky ones to have such a caring,inspiring,dedicated teacher. Having her son, Rob, in our class probably helped.She will be missed but always in our hearts.

Family of Miz Zet, You have my deepest sympathy. Miz Zet was my favorite teacher. I had her for biology and later human physiology. She had the gift of making a student learn and keeping it interesting with her wit and faith in our Creator! Later I enjoyed being a member of Pilot International with her. She maintained her creative wit as president of Pilot Club of Palatka! We were also fellow business owners on St. Johns Ave. She was a joy to have known not only as my teacher but also as a person. I am truly heartbroken at the passing of this magnificent, brilliant woman, mentor, and friend, Mrs. Iva Jeanne Zetrouer. She was my favorite teacher who taught my favorite subject, Human Physiology. She was different because she was a true pioneer in the teaching and medical field. She had so much respect for her students and confidence in them that she even exposed us to material that was being taught in medical schools. Imagine how important that made us feel. She did not believe in boundaries where school curriculum was concerned, so that if students were capable of going above and beyond, she initiated their journeys. Her teaching model inspired me to do the same with students I taught. Mrs. Zet even took us on a tour of the University of Florida College of Medicine and other field trips. She was a true advocate for women in the field of medicine. I was honored to have visited her at her home in 2011 and told her that she was my favorite teacher and I loved her. The last time I got to utter those words were at a most sad occasion for her, the visitation for her late son, Lester. She could not speak but gave me a big smile. Rob's wife, Sharon, said Mrs. Zet was everybody's favorite teacher. My father, Herman, is now 93 and grew up with her and her sister, Ila Jack. He also was born and raised in Palatka, as was she. My father; mother, Elfriede; and siblings, Herman, Jr., and Ingrid Melzer Marleton (also her students) send our deepest condolences to you, Rob and Sharon, her grandchildren, and her devoted caregiver, Ms. Shelly Benson. We know Mrs. Iva Jeanne Zetrouer is now in Heaven with her Lord, who is saying, "Well done, my Precious Child". We will love her forever.

I had Mrs. Zetrouer for Human Physiology. She was certainly one of my favorite teachers, and I remember being disappointed that I didn't get to have her for biology. I feel privileged to have known her.

Mrs Zet was one of my most favorite teachers. She taught you to love science. Working at our church she always had an encouraging word for me. Sometimes she would just drop by and tell me I was doing a great job. That meant a lot. She never stopped teaching or encouraging me. She will be missed.

Ms. Zet was an amazing teacher who inspired her students to be better than they thought they could be. She lead us through the workings of the human body, and I have yet to meet a medical professor who did a better job of explaining the workings of the human body

i go back many many years with this great lady. the courage the faith the strength, i could go on and on. One of the greatest memoreis that Iva Jeanne gave me was the gift of laughter.. Not to mention her hold of how imprtant family is and most imprtant how love is the biggest part of life and the grace of God. i will keep her in my peayers and memories for a very long time.

there aree so many other great things i could say about this great lady but now i know she is with her husband and son and friends so all i can say is goodnight Irene.

I was Mrs. Zetrouer's biology classes at PSHS in the early 1960's. She was the best teacher not only of biology but also in character building. I have the fondest memories of her, and I wish her family all the best.
